A girl of 15 was allegedly raped at least twice at her school.
Police revealed that two boys, aged 14 and 15, have been arrested and bailed over the incidents, which are claimed to have taken place at a state school in Birmingham.
The rapes are alleged to have taken place between January and April this year but were reported only a fortnight ago.
Police said the allegations related to at least two attacks but refused to confirm the precise number.
It was also unclear whether the incidents took place within the school building or in the grounds.
John Hemming, Liberal Democrat MP for Birmingham Yardley, said yesterday he was 'horrified' to hear of the allegations. He said the incident, if true, highlighted concerns over indiscipline inside schools.
He said: 'It worries me greatly that there seems to be an environment in schools where something like this can happen.'
A spokesman for Birmingham City Council said support would be provided to staff and pupils at the school when classes resume after half-term on Monday.
A West Midlands Police spokesman said: 'We can confirm we are investigating allegations of rape of a 15-year-old girl in Birmingham.
'Two boys, aged 14 and 15 have been arrested and are currently on police bail pending further enquiries.
'The alleged incident took place between January and April this year and inquiries are ongoing.
'We are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.'
