Video shows Taliban suicide bombers pledging attacks against Britain

The footage, filmed openly by an American TV crew, showed men pledging their allegiance to the Taliban and vowing to get 'justice' for the presence of NATO troops in Afghanistan.

It is thought that around 60 men from six different nations - including the UK - took part in the ceremony - the culmination of a period of intense training at the camp on how to carry out suicide attacks.

The film, taken last Saturday in a remote area of Pakistan near the border with Afghanistan,, showed the men dressed in white, with their faces obscured by black cloth, waving white flags before taking it in turn to swear their pledge in front of Taliban leaders.

Caught on film was a Taliban leader who addressed the crowd saying: 'Listen, all you Westerners and Americans.

'You came from thousands of kilometres to fight us. Now we will go back to your countries and attack you.'

A man with a south Asian accent also stood up to speak in English.

He said: 'So let me say something about why we are going along with a suicide attack in Britain,' before the film cuts out.

It is thought that the 'teams' at the ceremony included men from Britain, America, Germany, France and Afghanistan.

But it is not clear if the would-be bombers have the capability to implement their planned attacks.

Although the Taliban have made frequent attacks on their home soil - killing 35 people just last week in a suicide attack on a bus in Kabul - they have not yet attacked in the West unlike their Al Qaeda counterparts who were responsible for the London attacks in July 2005.

Security experts point out there is a big difference between making threats in front of TV cameras for propaganda purposes to actually carrying them out.
