'Wizard' with £500,000 in cash is jailed

A MAN who claimed in court he was a "wizard of the round table" has been jailed for seven years for money laundering linked to drug dealing.

Robert Brett-Deans, 36, was caught by police with almost £400,000 in cash hidden in his hotel room at a Toby Carvery in Croydon after being arrested driving a Ferrari. Another £100,000 was found in a Porsche outside his parents' home in West Sussex.

The case took two years because of the behaviour of the defendant who said he had the power "to topple governments and royalty". Psychiatrists at Broadmoor ruled him fit to plead. Croydon crown court heard how Brett-Deans was involved in drug trafficking and organised crime and hoarded vast sums of cash.
