Woman fleeing police falls to her death

Mary Ball, a mother of two, is thought to have been trying to flee as police smashed their way through the door of her Fulham home.
The tragedy was witnessed by her partner. Police had a warrant to arrest Ms Ball, 43, after she broke a community service order. They were also investigating an allegation of assault.
When they called at the tower block in Wandsworth Bridge Road, the couple refused to answer the door.
After several minutes police kicked it down, but once inside they discovered the woman had fallen from a balcony. It is understood her boyfriend, who did not live at the flat, was found cowering under a bed.
The Met's Department of Professional Standards was today investigating the incident on 21 September. Sources said the inquiry was focusing on whether the woman deliberately jumped or slipped.
The case comes less than three weeks after Ghanian Frank Odame, 36, fell to his death from flats in east London during a raid by Border Agency officials.
