Coma man recovers to see his baby born

A musician flown back to Britain with help from Evening Standard readers after a motorcycle crash in Bali has become a father.

Richard Plummer is celebrating the birth of baby daughter Tiana only months after doctors feared he would never recover from a coma. Readers gave more than £3,000 to help fund an air ambulance which brought Mr Plummer, 32, home last July.

He regained consciousness in August, and although he cannot yet walk he is making such good progress that he was at the side of his Balinese girlfriend Indri when she gave birth here on February 5.

He returned to his parents' Maidstone home from hospital for the first time at the weekend to be with Indri and Tiana.
