15 face charges over murder probe

Detectives were told on Tuesday there was enough evidence to prosecute 15 people linked to a case that gave rise to a notorious miscarriage of justice.
Three men originally convicted of the murder of Ms White, who was stabbed to death in the docks area of Cardiff on Valentine's Day, were later freed on appeal.
The real killer, Jeffrey Gafoor, a client of Ms White, eventually admitted murder in 2003 and was jailed for life.
Nine retired police officers, three serving officers and a member of police staff - who is also a retired officer - face charges of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice. Two civilian witnesses in the original trial face charges of perjury.
In 1992 the Court of Appeal quashed the murder convictions of the so-called Cardiff Three - Stephen Miller, Yusef Abdullahi and Anthony Paris.
Last December, three people who gave false evidence at the trial - Mark Grommek, Angela Psaila and Leanne Vilday - were jailed for 18 months after pleading guilty to committing perjury. Cardiff Crown Court heard allegations of police bullying.
The Crown Prosecution Service said that after these convictions lawyers from its special crime division reviewed evidence against police officers who investigated the Cardiff Three and two other suspects, John Actie and Ronald Actie.
Tom Davies, of the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC), said it was vital for confidence in the police and the complaints process that the full story of the re-investigation was told in public.
The 15 have been summoned to appear at City of Westminster Magistrates' Court on April 24. Police also said a retired forensic officer on Tuesday received a letter releasing him from his bail.
