15 in court after police raids

A total of 15 people have appeared in court charged with offences relating to a series of police raids that saw 10 children taken into care.

The 15, all from Slough, Berkshire, were arrested during Operation Caddy, a joint operation between the Metropolitan Police and Thames Valley Police.

They appeared before Westminster Magistrates Court on Friday.

One person pleaded guilty to theft of mobile phones and was sentenced to eight weeks in prison.

Of the remaining 14, nine people were charged with immigration offences, three with theft of mobile phones, two with handling stolen mobile phones and one with breach of a deportation order.

All 14 were remanded in custody.

Scotland Yard said six people were bailed to return on various dates pending further inquiries.

A further three people are being questioned by Thames Valley Police in connection with the raids.

So far nine of the 10 children found at the addresses have been reunited with their families.
