Just hours after John Darwin left Panama to return to the UK, Mrs Darwin told him how much she missed him.

In one email, dated October 30 2007, she hopes he had a good flight and adds: "Love you, missing you already. XXXXXXX"

The former doctor's receptionist - on trial at Teesside Crown Court for a £250,000 insurance fraud - also asks whether her husband finished his book.

"Did you manage to write the last chapter for your book on the way there?" she asks him.

The jury was also read the contents of a saucy email John Darwin sent from Panama to his wife back in Seaton Carew, Hartlepool.

Dated August 28, 2007 and sent from a Yahoo account in the name of John Jones - the identity Mr Darwin assumed after faking his death - he tells his wife about some banking arrangements in Central America.

He then signs off the email saucily: "Love you lots. Get you bum over here fast. I got something here for you and it's hot."
