Amy Winehouse charged with assault

The 25-year-old singer is accused of assaulting a woman in Berkeley Square, Westminster, on September 26.
She will appear at City of Westminster Magistrates' Court on March 17.
A Scotland Yard spokesman said: "Amy Winehouse, a 25-year-old singer of Hadley Wood, appears on bail at City of Westminster Magistrates' Court on Tuesday March 17 charged with common assault in connection with an incident at Berkeley Square on September 26 2008."
A spokesman for Winehouse said: "Amy voluntarily attended a police station in London yesterday morning.
"She was questioned by appointment in relation to an accusation made after the Berkeley Ball last year.
"She was charged with common assault and will attend a court hearing in the coming weeks."
Winehouse has recently moved to Hadley Wood, in Enfield, north London, from Camden following a two-month break in the Caribbean.
