Area completes digital switchover

About 25,000 households in the town of Whitehaven and surrounding borough of Copeland had all their analogue channels switched off at 3.27am on Wednesday.
This completes the process begun on October 17 when analogue BBC2 came off air and the first digital channels became available through an aerial.
Residents will need to re-tune Freeview boxes in order to receive the 20 digital television channels available, which include BBC News 24, ITV2 and E4.
Ten BBC radio stations are also being broadcast digitally, including BBC Radio Five Live Sports Extra and Asian Network.
The digital channels are being broadcast using airwaves freed up from the loss of the analogue signal.
Digital UK is the body set up by broadcasters to implement digital switchover.
Chief executive Ford Ennals said: "Our research suggests that nearly all 25,000 homes in and around Whitehaven are ready for the completion of this process which will transform many people's experience of watching television.
"We estimate that about 500 households still need to take action to prepare for switchover.
"On top of that, we know that social housing providers and the help scheme are still waiting for some householders to get in touch to arrange delivery or installation."
