BA bosses face extradition threat

An American court approved a 300 million US dollar (£150 million) fine after BA admitted colluding with other airlines over fuel surcharges.
But the 10 executives did not receive protection from prosecution under a plea agreement between the airline and US prosecutors.
They could face up to 10 years in prison if convicted of breaking anti-trust laws.
The fine could have been as high as 900 million dollars (£445 million), but the court accepted the agreement reached between the US Department of Justice and BA which involved the airline co-operating and pleading guilty to infringements of competition law.
Their executives' names were released in the plea agreement released by the US District Court in Washington DC.
The four still working for British Airways are Andrew Crawley, head of UK and Ireland sales; Ian Barrigan, business development manager; Gareth Kirkwood, director of operations; and Anthony Nothman, manager of international customer services.
The ex-members of staff identified in court documents included Iain Burns, formerly BA's head of communications, and Martin George, BA's former commercial director. They were joined by: Keith Packer, ex-manager UK and Ireland cargo corporate sales; Andreas Boppart, former regional cargo account manager; Robert Kujala, former senior vice president Americas (cargo); and Alan Burnett, former head of UK and Ireland sales.
Court documents reportedly said the 10 would not receive immunity from prosecution offered to BA and its other executives as a result of the agreement.
But a British Airways spokesman said its lawyers had advised that being named on the carve-out list did not mean the US Department of Justice believed a person was guilty of any criminal offence.
