BA to increase fuel surcharge by £30

British Airways is to increase its fuel surcharge, with passengers on the most-distant long-haul routes paying £30 more for a return flight.

BA said the decision "reflects continuing high oil prices" and would affect all tickets issued from Friday.

The surcharge for short-haul flights will increase by £6 per return flight - rising from £20 to £26.

For long-haul flights of less than nine hours, the surcharge for a return flight will rise from £106 to £126.

The highest rise of £30 applies to long-haul flights of more than nine hours which will go up from £128 for a return trip to £158.
