Bail plea in royal blackmail case

Lawyers representing Ian Strachan, 30, are due to make an application behind closed doors at the Old Bailey.
A previous application last week was adjourned after a few minutes because the lawyers needed more time to prepare.
Strachan is not expected to attend but will be released from Belmarsh prison, south-east London, if bail is granted.
The application this afternoon will be heard by Mr Justice Gross "in chambers" as is the practice at the court.
Strachan, of Chelsea, west London, and Sean McGuigan, 40, have appeared at City of Westminster Magistrates' Court charged with blackmail.
They were remanded in custody and are due to appear at the Old Bailey on December 20 when the charge will be put to them.
Two men were reported to have threatened to release a video of an aide claiming to have engaged in a sex act with the royal and alleging that he had been given cocaine by the royal.
The victim, said not to be a senior member of the Royal Family, denied the accusations and called in police, who made arrests following a sting operation.
