Bath death suspect footage released

Police in Japan have released footage of a man who is wanted in connection with the death of a British woman after failing to make any headway in the case.

Tatsuya Ichihashi, 28, is wanted in connection with the murder of Lindsay Ann Hawker, 22.

The English language teacher's body was found on March 26 in a bathtub filled with sand on the balcony of his apartment in Ichikawa.

A post mortem examination indicated she had been suffocated.

Police officials said they decided to make the footage public in an effort to gather more information.

The footage, recorded from March 20 to 25 by a security camera installed in a lift in Ichihashi's block of flats, shows Ichihashi taking out his rubbish and using the lift on other occasions, the police said.

Ichihashi fled from police officers when they called on him at his apartment on March 26 after the language school Miss Hawker - whose family live in Brandon, Warwickshire - worked for said it had been unable to reach her.

The police have not been able to trace him since his escape.
