Police want to identify the drugs mule found in Greenwich, south-east London.

A post-mortem examination revealed the man had swallowed 142 wraps of what police believe to be class A drugs.

Some of the packages contained up to 15g of drugs and a pathologist said he died of "intestinal obstruction".

Officers believe the man, who was carrying a Virgin Nigeria airline baggage label in his pocket, would have died in agony.

The man, who is in his 40s and was wearing a navy blue suit and a bright pink and purple striped shirt, had just £1.50 in his pocket.

Detective Sergeant Lauraine Greenhead of Plumstead CID said: "The man was found with just over 2kg of what we believe to be Class A drugs in his stomach, with a potential street value of up to £125,000.

"This is an unusually large amount to have ingested and he must have died in considerable pain.

"He was wearing a plain gold ring on his wedding finger when found, so we feel sure he must have a family somewhere who know he is missing. He also had a Virgin Nigeria airline baggage label in his pocket, so it is possible he had a connection with that country."

The body was discovered in Peartree Way, Greenwich, shortly after midnight on August 9.
