Miss Kercher, 21, was found with her throat cut on November 2. Italian prosecutors believe she died at around 10pm the previous evening after her throat was cut.
American student Amanda Knox, her Italian boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito, and Congolese bar owner Diya "Patrick" Lumumba, have been arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting, then killing the 21-year-old from Coulsdon, Surrey, in the central Italian city of Perugia.
According to her close friend Robyn Butterworth, who was on a university exchange from Leeds to the Italian town of Perugia with Miss Kercher, Ms Knox seemed unfazed at the discovery of her housemate's body.
In a statement given to British police after she flew home from Italy, seen by reporters, Miss Butterworth, of Northampton, said she found Ms Knox's behaviour after finding the body "very strange".
She said: "I remember Amanda also kept going on about how she found the body, it was as if she was proud to have been the one who found it.
"I just remember thinking at the time in the police station Amanda's behaviour was very strange, it was as if she wasn't bothered at all. Her behaviour also struck other friends who were there.
"Amanda's behaviour was always a little strange."
She said Miss Kercher had told her she had "discussions" with Knox about the American's habit of bringing men back to their home.
On Friday, Judge Claudia Matteini said there was enough evidence to hold Knox, Lumumba and Sollecito for up to a year while the case against them was prepared. All three deny any involvement in her death.
