Boy, 13, due to face murder charge

A 13-year-old boy is due to appear in court accused of murdering another teenager with a broken bottle.

The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is charged with fatally stabbing Jahmal Mason-Blair in the neck in Hackney, east London, on Saturday.

Jahmal, 17, was found by police on a routine patrol in Amhurst Road early that morning and he was pronounced dead soon afterwards.

He had dreamed of becoming a professional footballer and had attended the Tottenham Hotspur development centre for young players, his friends said.

The 13-year-old will appear at Redbridge Magistrates' Court.
