Boy, 3, dies in pool tragedy

The family of a three-year-old boy who died in a swimming pool accident are trying to come to terms with their loss.

Family members of the child, who has not been named, have been visiting the house where the tragic accident happened.

The child was staying at a house in Bromham, Wiltshire, when he was found in the swimming pool on Tuesday afternoon. His parents are from Buckinghamshire, Wiltshire Police said.

Paramedics gave the young boy CPR after he was dragged from the pool at 2.45pm, but despite the ambulance crew's efforts, the boy was pronounced dead on arrival at Great Western Hospital, Swindon, just 30 minutes later.

Residents spoke of the "worst tragedy imaginable" as news spread through the rural village, near Chippenham.

It was understood that the five-bedroom home where the death happened had only recently been bought and refurbished by the owners. Surrounded by Wiltshire countryside, the detached red brick house has stables and a pool in its grounds.

Police said that there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and an inquest is expected to be opened by Wiltshire Coroner David Masters.

Earlier this month, a five-year-old girl died on a family trip to the Doncaster Dome leisure centre.

Harjit Kaur Rathour, from the Leeds area, was dragged unconscious from the pool on August 4. She was visiting the pool with a group of other children and relatives.

Lifeguards and staff tried to revive the girl. She was then taken to Doncaster Royal Infirmary where she was pronounced dead about two hours later.
