Boyfriend denies killing model
07 January 2008
Lewis Sproston, 22, was accused of leaving her "dead or dying" following a jealous row. But Mr Sproston denied during questioning at the Old Bailey that he was the teenager's murderer.
Chef Mark Dixie - who is standing trial for the 18-year-old's murder - claims he found Sally Anne in her driveway and "took advantage of the situation" to have sex with the body.
Mr Sproston came under heavy cross-examination by the defence after the jury was told he had initially been arrested for the murder.
Anthony Glass QC, defending Dixie, asked him: "Did you lose your temper and kill her?" Mr Sproston, a plasterer, replied: "No".
The court heard that Mr Sproston was arrested the day after the murder in September 2005 and asked police: "Is this about the row with my girlfriend last night?"
Mr Glass asked Mr Sproston if he had a "guilty conscience" about what had happened. He replied: "Not really. I thought she made it home. I thought she was perfectly well and healthy. It was just a normal argument."
Mr Glass asked him: "Had you left her dead or dying?" Mr Sproston replied: "Are you being serious? No."
Dixie, 37, of no fixed address, denies murdering Sally Anne. The prosecution allege he killed her for sexual gratification. The trial continues.
