Briton killed in Tenerife attack

A British woman living in Tenerife was beaten to death, according to reports.

The Foreign Office confirmed a UK national had died but said no details of her identity would be released until her next of kin had been told.

The Daily Mail said the woman, 28, was found badly beaten in an apartment block in the Playa de Las Americas resort.

Police were called to the Pala Blanco housing development around 3am on Christmas Eve when neighbours had heard a violent row.

The woman, who had been beaten with a baseball bat, died around 1pm, the newspaper reported.

A Foreign Office spokeswoman said: "We can confirm the death of a British national. Foreign Office staff are making contact with next of kin."
