Brothers 'suffered violent death'

Two boys found dead in a vehicle at an isolated car park were believed to have suffered violent deaths.

The boys, thought to be brothers aged six and two, were recovered from a vehicle at Crow Road near Lennoxtown, East Dunbartonshire.

It was also reported that a man who was taken from the scene had suffered serious burns. The man, who is being treated at Glasgow's Royal Infirmary is believed to be the children's father.

Strathclyde Police confirmed they were treating the deaths as suspicious and officers were following a positive line of inquiry.

Post-mortem examinations were expected to be carried out, although it is not known when the result will be available.

The grim discovery was made on Crow Road at around 4.30pm on Saturday. The car was moved from the scene by a large recovery lorry under police escort.

Police dog teams have been examining the scene. The car park is close to the Campsie Fells, a popular spot with families and hillwalkers.

It had been reported that the boys' family were from the Glasgow area, and that their parents were estranged.
