Brown calls emergency meeting

Prime Minister Gordon Brown is to chair a meeting of the Government's Cobra emergency contingencies committee in Whitehall in response to the incident at Glasgow Airport.

The meeting, bringing together Government ministers, police counter-terrorism officers, security service and senior Whitehall officials, comes after Cobra met earlier to discuss the attempted car-bombings in London.

Downing Street said that Mr Brown was being kept fully informed on developments in the Glasgow inquiry.

And a spokeswoman said he had called Scottish First Minister Alex Salmond to discuss the incident.
