A private service was held for the six-year-old at St Nicholas Church in Chadlington, Oxfordshire, near the Conservative leader's constituency.
Mr Cameron and his wife Samantha wanted the funeral to be private, attended only by family and those who were closely involved in their son's life.
Ivan, who suffered from cerebral palsy and a rare and severe epilepsy condition, was taken ill and died in the early hours of last Wednesday morning.
The couple, who have two other children - five-year-old Nancy and Arthur, three - have expressed their sorrow at the loss of their "beautiful boy".
They have also thanked well-wishers from all parties and all sections of society.
Since their son's death, the Camerons have received countless messages of support and condolences.
"Sam and I have been overwhelmed by all the letters, cards, emails and flowers we have received about Ivan," Mr Cameron wrote in an emotional message at the weekend.
