Celebs enter the Big Brother house

Ulrika Jonsson, La Toya Jackson and Coolio have entered the Celebrity Big Brother House.

They were joined by ex-Sugababe Mutya Buena, former Liberty X singer Michelle Heaton and Mini Me from the Austin Powers films - Verne Troyer.

The Channel 4 reality show was back following the race row in 2007, although bosses have declared that the programme will not be "sanitised".

The treatment of Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty by Jade Goody and other housemates on the programme caused a furore two years ago.

Eleven celebrities, also including Terry Christian, Tommy Sheridan, Lucy Pinder, Tina Malone and Ben Adams, are taking part in the show over the next 22 days.

And Celebrity Big Brother has kept one room locked until now - a luxury bedroom for one lucky housemate. Following the launch show, one celebrity was set to become the first ever Celebrity Head of House - living in the luxury private quarters with everything they could want. He or she will also be the only housemate permitted to nominate celebrity housemates to face the first public vote and will be immune from next week's eviction.

Host Davina McCall will return to the house on Tuesday to find out how the Celebrity Head of House has managed all of the housemates' egos.

Former Celebrity Big Brother housemate Michael Barrymore will turn roving reporter for the new series. He will appear on the fanzine show Celebrity Big Brother's Little Brother, offering his thoughts on the celebrities, as well as becoming an on-the-street reporter.

Organisers have said this year's tasks will be about life as a celebrity. The house's outdoor area has been transformed into a winter wonderland, complete with carousel horses and a heated seating area. There is also a smoking area resembling a giant ashtray. For the more health-conscious celebrities, gym equipment has been provided in the lounge.

During this series three charities will receive a percentage of the money raised from eviction phone voting. They are the Make a Wish Foundation, Leonard Cheshire and the Terrence Higgins Trust.
