'Cute' royal baby yet to be named

Royal couple the Earl and Countess of Wessex are getting to know their new "cute, cuddly" baby boy before deciding on a name.

Edward told reporters he would get to know his son before he and his wife decide on a name.

Proud parents Edward and Sophie were "absolutely thrilled" at the safe birth of their son.

Speaking outside the Frimley Park Hospital, Surrey, Edward said the baby's arrival was "a lot calmer than last time".

He added that Sophie was very well "but she will obviously be here for a couple of days, recovering from the experience, but otherwise doing very well".

Asked to describe his son, he said: "Small, cute and cuddly."

He explained they had not yet thought of a name for the 6lb 2oz boy.

"We didn't know what we were going to get. You've got to get to know the small person who's just come into the world before you pick a name."

The couple's much longed for second child was born by caesarean section at the hospital on Monday afternoon.

News of the Christmas addition to the Royal Family has delighted the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh.
