Officers said that items found near the body, which was discovered in undergrowth next to a railway line near Manningtree station, Essex, led them to believe it was Natasha.
The 17-year-old, of Dovercourt, Essex, appeared to have died after being hit by a train, officers said. Natasha vanished a fortnight ago following a night out with friends in Ipswich.
A police spokeswoman said a mobile phone, clothing and a handbag discovered close to the corpse "leads us to believe" it is Natasha.
Police said post-mortem tests had found she died from injuries "consistent with a train strike".
Natasha disappeared after boarding a late-night train in Ipswich on July 27 following a meal with two friends.
Her mobile phone went "off network" at 11.19pm in the Manningtree area.
Police believe she might have been upset about splitting from her boyfriend on the night of her disappearance.
Hours before the body was found, ex-boyfriend Joshua Brennan, 18, made an emotional appeal for the "best person in his life" to come home.
Earlier in the week, Natasha's grandparents, Peter and Wendy Clackett, offered their life savings as a reward for information leading to her safe return.
