Lady Sarah McCorquodale was due to give her testimony earlier this month but it was rescheduled because the evidence of Diana's former butler, Paul Burrell, went on longer than expected.

She may expect to be asked about her view on whether an engagement was imminent between her sister and Dodi al Fayed when they died in a car crash in Paris on August 31, 1997.

The jury has been told that Lady Sarah spoke to Diana two days before and formed the impression the relationship was on "stony ground".

Mr al Fayed's father, Mohamed al Fayed, has always contended that the pair were about to declare their intention to marry.

Lady Sarah may also be asked about the whereabouts of correspondence belonging to Diana, including letters from the Duke of Edinburgh. The existence of these letters is disputed.

Two police officers are also expected to give evidence on Monday.
