Elderly Britons die in car crash

Two British women in their seventies have died in a road crash in south-west France, the Foreign Office confirmed.

One of the women was resident in France, the second was reportedly visiting from Scotland.

Their car hit a second vehicle near Beaumarches, near Toulouse, and the occupants, a 34-year-old woman and her three-month-old baby, are also reported to have died in the crash.

A spokeswoman for the Foreign Office said: "The next of kin have been informed and we are trying to make contact with the families of both women to offer consular assistance."
