Ex-dustman Andy singing for Britain
24 January 2008
Abraham, 43, found fame on TV talent show the X Factor before being voted the UK entry in a televised public vote ahead of former EastEnder Michelle Gayle.
But the faith of the British public is not shared by bookmakers who have given Abraham odds as long as 66-1.
However, Abraham has secured backing from the traditionally wry tongue of Terry Wogan who has declared his soul song Even If "the best UK entry for a while".
Whatever happens, Abraham will be hoping to better the UK's disappointing result in last year's competition, when pop group Scooch finished 22nd out of 24 entrants.
Most bookmakers are tipping Dima Bilan to bring Russia its first ever Eurovision victory. Bilan returns for a second time after narrowly losing out to shock Finnish rockers Lordi in 2006.
Tonight's live contest is being held in the Serbian capital Belgrade and more than 100 million television viewers across Europe are expected to tune in.
The event starts this evening from 8pm on BBC1.
