Failed car bomb suspects released
16 January 2007
The pair, aged 25 and 28, were arrested at the Royal Alexandra Hospital, Paisley, in the early hours of July 2 by Strathclyde Police and held at London's high-security Paddington Green police station.
Police had run out of time and had to charge or release them or apply to a magistrate for further time for questioning.
Officers had earlier been given until July 21 to continue questioning another suspect - Dr Mohammed Asha, 26, of Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire, who was arrested on the M6 motorway in Cheshire on June 30.
Police have charged Dr Sabeel Ahmed, 26, with possessing information which could have prevented an act of terrorism.
He is due to appear at City of Westminster Magistrates Court in London.
Ahmed, from Bangalore, India, was arrested in the Lime Street area of Liverpool on June 30 by police investigating the botched attacks. He worked at Halton Hospital in Runcorn, Cheshire.
The Metropolitan Police said Ahmed had been charged under Section 38 of the Terrorism Act with having information which he "knew or believed may be of material assistance in preventing the commission by another of an act of terrorism".
