Falling plank nailed to girl's head

Naomi Easton, 11, was playing with friends in a wood in Pumpherston, West Lothian, when a 7ft plank fell on her as a shelter they were building collapsed.
She is recovering after being treated at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh.
Paramedics arrived to take the youngster to hospital but she was unable to enter the ambulance because the plank was too big.
The length of wood ended up stuck to the girl's head after a protruding nail lodged itself in her skull.
Strathclyde Fire and Rescue were then called to saw the wood to a shorter length so the girl could fit in the vehicle.
The girl was conscious and breathing throughout the whole process, the fire service said.
A spokeswoman said: "She couldn't fit into the ambulance with a 7ft length of wood on her head. We cut the length of wood in order for her to get into the ambulance."
Naomi said: "I just remember sitting under the sticks that were piled up, then someone ran up the ramp and a stick fell onto my head. That's when I started screaming. But we didn't know there were any nails in it. I got quite scared.
"Some of the people that were there went to get their mum. Then the ambulance came and that was it. It was quite sore and painful. Today, I feel a little bit sore but I'm just glad that I'm still here and I've got my mum."
