Michelle Clydesdale was the half-sister of Victoria Clydesdale, who was one of 16 children to die at Dunblane Primary School 13 years ago.
The 24-year-old drowned with Mark Porter, 29, after they left their hotel in the resort of Salou, near Tarragona, to go swimming.
They were with three other friends when they got into trouble and drowned.
According to reports, her father Charles Clydesdale and mother Ina Weir are to travel to Spain in a bid to find out more about their child's death.
He told the Daily Record newspaper: "We're all so shocked and stunned. I'm going out to Spain with my ex-wife, Michelle's mother. We'll know more after that."
He also told STV his ex-wife, Ina Weir, received a call from a holiday rep who told her that their daughter's body had been found on the Spanish beach.
He told the broadcaster: "Nobody has officially told us yet. I can't believe it's happened. I'm still numb. In the last five years, I've lost my mother, father and my brother. I feel so guilty I wasn't there. I felt like that last time with Victoria at Dunblane."
It is understood Miss Clydesdale and Mr Porter were found on the beach after being washed up by large waves.
Their bodies were taken to the regional capital of Tarragona on the north-eastern coast of Spain for post-mortem examinations.
