Family struggle to cope after death

The family of a 20-year-old man who collapsed and died after attending a house party said they were struggling to deal with their loss.

Emergency services were called after Martyn Duffey was taken ill on his way home from the party in Viking Close, Blackfield, Hants, in the early hours of Saturday.

Mr Duffey, nicknamed Munch and who lived in Cedar Road, Hythe, was pronounced dead on arrival at Southampton General Hospital, a Hampshire Constabulary spokesman said.

Police said they were treating the death as suspicious as investigations by the force's major crime team continue into what led to Mr Duffey's death.

A post-mortem examination was conducted at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester but further tests taking several weeks are needed to establish the cause of death.

In a statement issued through police, his family said he leaves behind his mother and father, four brothers, his sisters and two nieces.

The statement said: "Martyn (Munch) had a love for life, loved and is loved by all that knew him. We are struggling to come to terms with our loss."

A message of condolence was also posted on the social networking website, Bebo, where Mr Duffey described adoring his new job as a support worker.

He also wrote of his musical and film tastes and lists a number of friends close to him. One message on the site read: "RIP Munch!! Will miss you so much! Will never forget you! Xxx"

A 21-year-old man arrested in connection with the death has been released on police bail, the spokesman added.
