Family's tribute to hit and run boy

The family of a boy killed in a hit and run collision said they had lost "a very happy and mischievous 11-year-old".

Theodore Hixon-Denton suffered serious injuries in the incident in Sholing Road, Southampton, and later died.

The dark coloured car, which sustained damage to its front, failed to stop at the scene near a recreation ground.

Theodore, who came from Southampton, died in Southampton General Hospital after being taken there under police escort.

In a statement released by Hampshire Police his mother Julia, sister Lydia and brother Louis said: "Theodore was a very much loved son, brother and grandson.

"He was a very happy and mischievous 11-year-old. At the moment we don't know how we will manage without him. Our hearts are broken."

A police spokeswoman said the 19-year-old local man arrested in connection with the death remains in custody.

Detectives have also seized a car, which is being examined.

Officers are still appealing for anyone who saw the incident to come forward.
