Conferences will take place in nine different regions to seek the views of more than 1,000 people on the future of the NHS.
The answers will feed into a review of the health service - Our NHS, Our Future - being carried out by Sir Ara Darzi for the Government.
Mr Johnson and Sir Ara will attend the event in Birmingham, with eight more scheduled in Manchester, Newcastle, Nottingham, Bristol, Maidstone, Reading, Norwich and York.
The assembled staff, patient group representatives and members of the public will seek answers to a series of questions. These include:
:: What are your main concerns for health care in the future?
:: What are the most important factors in delivering a high quality service?
:: What would help demonstrate that the service is safe, effective and high quality?
:: What actions would you like to see to tackle the spread of infections in hospitals?
A regional clinical review team will host the event in each area, with Government ministers attending where possible.
