Four in court over Shakilus murder

Four teenagers are due to appear in court charged with the murder of 16-year-old Shakilus Townsend.

The victim was beaten with a baseball bat and stabbed in an attack in Thornton Heath, south London, last Thursday. He died the next day.

Tyrell Ellis, 18, of Springfield Road, Thornton Heath, male youths aged 17 and 16, and a 15-year-old female have been charged with murder, Scotland Yard said.

All four will appear at Sutton Magistrates Court, a Yard spokesman said.

A fifth person arrested - a 22-year-old man - has been bailed to return to a south London police station on a date in August, pending further inquiries.
