Four men admit terror plot role

Four men have admitted being part of a terror plot to cause explosions with Dhiren Barot.

Barot, 34, was jailed last year for conspiracy to murder after planning atrocities on both sides of the Atlantic using explosive-packed limousines and a "dirty" bomb.

Junade Feroze, 31, Mohammed Zia Ul Haq, 28, Abdul Aziz Jalil, 34, and Omar Abdul Rehman, 23, pleaded guilty at Woolwich Crown Court to conspiracy to cause an explosion or explosions likely to endanger life.

The particulars of the charge were: "Between 19th February 2001 and 4th August 2004 you conspired together and with Dhiren Barot and other persons unknown unlawfully and maliciously to cause by an explosive substance an explosion or explosions of a nature likely to endanger life."

The south east London court was told this was contrary to the Explosive Substances Act 1883 as extended by Section 62 of the Terrorism Act 2000.

Qaisar Shaffi, 28, from Willesden, north west London, denied the charge and will stand trial next week.

Last week Mohammed Naveed Bhatti, 27, from Harrow, north west London, pleaded guilty to the same charge.

Another man, Nadeem Tarmohammed, also 28 and from Willesden, did not face charges in court on Wednesday.

Bhatti, Feroze, from Blackburn, Lancashire, Ul Haq, from Paddington, west London, Jalil, from Luton, Bedfordshire, and Rehman from Bushey, Hertfordshire, are expected to be sentenced in June and were remanded in custody.
