Four questioned over motorway body

Four people are being questioned by police after a woman's body was found on a motorway.

The body of Jacqueline Pye, 42, was found beneath a bridge on the M53 near Clatterbridge, Merseyside, at around midnight on Monday.

A spokesman for Merseyside Police said the death was being treated as "unexplained" as the cause had not been established.

Detectives believe Mrs Pye, who lived in Higher Bebington, went to a party on Sunday night.

Four people, understood to be other party guests, have been arrested in connection with the death.

They are two men, aged 57 and 40, from Neston and Raby Mere, and a man and woman, both aged 18 and from Thornton Hough.

Merseyside Police appealed for anyone with information, including motorists driving near junction four of the M53 at around midnight, to get in touch.
