Freed DJ Kershaw is arrested again
04 January 2008
Kershaw was arrested near his home in Peel on the Isle of Man for again allegedly harassing his former partner Juliette Banner.
Kershaw, 48, was released on Friday after spending 44 days in jail for an earlier offence of harassment against the mother of his two children.
A spokesman for Isle of Man Constabulary confirmed Kershaw had been arrested by officers on Monday and is due to appear in court later on Tuesday.
The former Radio 1 DJ has been battling alcoholism since splitting with Miss Banner, his partner of 17 years.
In April 2006 the couple moved to the island and converted a former nursing home on the sea front in Peel into a home and studio complex, from where Kershaw could present his BBC Radio 3 show. The move was meant to be a fresh start.
Shortly after their move Ms Banner found a text message from another woman on Kershaw's phone - she moved out, taking the children with her.
Drinking heavily, he began hounding his ex, who, by now, had met a new partner, Glaswegian Jim Imrie, a prison officer. Access to their children also became a source of friction.
On August 1, 2007, he was convicted under the Protection from Harassment Act and banned from approaching Ms Banner - he broke the order the same month.
Kershaw was arrested after going to her house and trying to get in, and spent a week in jail before being bailed.
