Funeral for boy killed in floods

The funeral is to take place of a 14-year-old boy who died at the height of the recent floods.

Ryan Parry died when he was swept away by the swollen River Sheaf in the Millhouses Park area of Sheffield on June 25.

The river burst its banks and is believed to have been flowing in excess of 20mph at the time.

Ryan was one of three people who died on that Monday as flash floods devastated large parts of Yorkshire and the Midlands.

His parents, Mandy and Chris Parry, have described him as "loveable and popular" and have told how they have been devastated by his death.

Ryan, from Gleadless, Sheffield, was the youngest of three children.

His funeral is due to take place at Gleadless Methodist Church at 1pm on Friday.
