Funeral of shot biker held
15 January 2007
Gerry Tobin, 35, from Mottingham, south-east London, was killed on August 12 as he returned from the Bulldog Bash bikers' festival at Long Marston, near Stratford-upon-Avon.
His funeral is due to take place at Mortlake Crematorium in Richmond, south-west London.
A cortege will leave the Hell's Angels' London clubhouse in Dawson Street, east London, and proceed to the crematorium in time for the ceremony.
Mr Tobin was born in Macclesfield, Cheshire, and lived with his family in Congleton before emigrating to Canada when he was two.
He returned to the UK about 10 years ago and worked as a mechanic at a Harley Davidson dealership, alongside his fiancee Rebecca Smith, 25. The couple also lived together in a flat just yards away from the garage in Mottingham where they both worked.
The mechanic was riding in convoy with two friends when he was shot near Junction 12 on the M40 motorway. He was killed with a single shot to the back of the head fired from a handgun.
Simon Turner, 40, Dane Garside, 41 and Sean Creighton, 43, have all been charged with his murder and Dean Taylor, 45, of Warwick Street, Coventry, has been charged with a firearms offence in connection with his death.
Turner, of Vernons Lane, Stockingford, Nuneaton, Garside of Silverdale Close, Alderman's Green, Coventry and Creighton, of Doncaster Close, Coventry, are also charged jointly with possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life.
They were all remanded in custody by magistrates sitting in Nuneaton last month and are due to enter pleas at Birmingham Crown Court on November 26.
