Harrods sex assault claim probed

The girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, claims she was kissed by a male executive at the Knightsbridge store, The Mail on Sunday reported.

A spokesman for Scotland Yard said no arrests had been made but confirmed an investigation was under way.

Officers from Operation Sapphire, which investigates sex crimes, are examining the claims, which date from May, he said.

He said: "We can confirm we are investigating an allegation of sexual assault on a girl under 16 at a business premises in central London.

"The allegation was received in May 2008. Operation Sapphire is leading the inquiry, which is continuing. No arrests have been made."

The girl met the man when she was shopping in the store with her mother, the newspaper reported.

The store could not immediately be contacted for comment.
