Head's widow 'intimidated by thugs'

There have been a number of apparent attempts to stop Frances Lawrence from speaking out about the case, according to the Daily Mail.
Mrs Lawrence writes in the newspaper as speculation mounts that Mr Lawrence's killer, Learco Chindamo, may be freed from prison soon and that both he and his mother may be given new identities and new homes.
She said that reading that Chindamo's mother might be given a new identity, as well as her own security guards, "was a total, and very brutal, shock" and had prompted her to speak for the first time about a campaign of harassment and intimidation to which she had been subjected the last five months.
She said: "There have been threats against my life, my house has been burgled, and my car has been rammed and forced off the road while I was driving it. I can only assume that these horrible things are in some way related to Philip's death and my efforts to get justice."
She said that five months ago she opened the front door to find two men standing there. One warned her not even to think about talking about "Learco" again to anyone - or "people might get angry".
She did not tell police but returned home one night just a few weeks later to find her house had been ransacked. There were no items of value missing - apart from all documents relating to her husband's murder and Chindamo's trial. She reported the burglary to police, but not, at that time, the threats.
After driving in her car one day, she found herself followed by another driver and forced off the road. The other car drove off again without stopping. Finally she went to the police to make a statement about "this campaign of intimidation", she said.
Chindamo was 15 when he stabbed Mr Lawrence to death outside his school in west London in 1995. He was jailed the following year and becomes eligible for parole next year.
A Scotland Yard spokesman said: "We can confirm that police investigated a burglary earlier this year at her address. Any allegations made by Mrs Lawrence to police have been and will be investigated as appropriate."
