House blast victim test results due

Results of a post-mortem examination on the body of a man killed in a house explosion are due to be released.

Businessman Emad Qureshi, 26, died as a blast ripped through a number of houses in Stanley Road, South Harrow, north-west London, on Wednesday.

On Friday, it emerged that a social housing flat next door to Mr Qureshi had a mystery liquid poured through the letter box on the day of the blast.

A 17-year-old girl who lived in the property and who is thought to be the likely target remains in hospital with serious burns.

The unknown substance was poured into the house about 10 hours before the property was levelled in an explosion.

The young woman who lived there had earlier called the police to complain about two teenage girls gathered outside.

After the explosion, she was pulled from the rubble of 21 Stanley Road by neighbours. Named locally as Charlotte, she was taken to Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.

Speaking at the scene of the blast, Detective Chief Inspector Colin Sutton said her terrace home could have been deliberately targeted.

Mr Sutton said: "We still haven't ruled out a gas explosion but experts say it is unlikely to be the cause. What we can say is that we are happy there is no link to any terrorist organisation or acts here."

Mr Sutton said he believed that the 17-year-old knew the two girls who had been causing the disturbance and that they might have gone to the same school or college.
