The TaxPayers' Alliance (TPA) pressure group, which campaigns for lower taxes said that the figure represented a 6% increase on the £631,000 they would have paid under last year's taxation rate.
The figures are based on the amount of taxes which the TPA calculates that an average household would pay out over a period of 40 years in work and a further 15 years in retirement.
The TPA said that the lifetime tax bill had risen even more sharply for poor households, rising from £233,000 under last year's taxation rate to £264,000 this year - a 13% increase.
The TPA also commissioned an opinion poll by the PoliticsHome website which found that 64% believed the Government was taxing and spending too much while 74% thought politicians were using environmental concerns as an excuse to raise "green" taxes.
TPA research director Corin Taylor said: "The Government say they sympathise with the plight of ordinary people, but they don't seem to care about the massive tax burden that people have to pay throughout their lives.
"People are struggling to make ends meet, and if the Government genuinely wants to help them they must cut taxes."
PoliticsHome questioned 1,611 people on September 22.
