Paul Grabham, 25, of Rosehill Terrace, Swansea, South Wales, is alleged to have killed Kirsty Grabham, 24, who disappeared after a night out with friends.
Grabham, who was remanded in custody until April 17, appeared before magistrates in Swansea where the charge that he murdered his wife at their home, between March 27 and April 7 this year, was read to him.
Wearing a long-sleeved zip-up top and jeans, and with the name Kirsty clearly visible on the side of his neck, Grabham spoke only to confirm his age and address.
His solicitor, Andrew Stewart, made no application for bail and the case against Grabham was committed to the Crown Court.
Magistrates' chairman Sonia Walters remanded him in custody until his next court appearance on April 17.
Mrs Grabham's body was recovered from woodland alongside the M4 close to Laleston, near Bridgend, on Monday.
Her body was formally identified the following day. She had been missing since March 28.
Family and friends of Mrs Grabham have been struggling to come to terms with her murder. None of them was in court for the hearing.
Well-wishers have offered their sympathy to the family on a Facebook group dedicated to Mrs Grabham.
