Jonny Evans is said to have rung his friends after he was accused of rape by a woman at the party, according to The Sun.
Greater Manchester Police were called to the Great John Street Hotel at 4.15am on Tuesday following reports that a 26-year-old woman had been raped.
The 19-year-old was arrested on Tuesday evening and was released on bail on Wednesday, Greater Manchester Police said.
A spokesman said he had been bailed until February 23 pending further inquiries.
It is not known if Evans will report for training on Thursday.
The defender, who spent last season on loan at Sunderland, is not a regular first team player but has made three appearances for Manchester United this year.
Belfast-born Evans has also played for Northern Ireland eight times.
Manchester United's next match is a home fixture against Everton at noon on Sunday.
A club spokeswoman declined to comment on Evans' arrest.
