Inquest into mansion deaths family

A full inquest into the deaths of ruined millionaire Chris Foster and his family are due to begin.

The two-day hearing is expected to reveal details of how the businessman killed his wife Jill and 15-year-old daughter Kirstie before torching their £1.2m mansion.

Their burnt bodies were found in the property in Maesbrook, Shropshire, days after the blaze in August last year.

Detectives launched a murder inquiry after tests showed Mrs Foster, 49, had been shot in the head.

A gun owned by the 50-year-old businessman, who made his fortune developing insulation technology for oil rigs, was found near the two corpses.

Spent and unspent gun cartridges were discovered scattered around the secluded grounds of Osbaston House.

CCTV footage showed a man believed to be Mr Foster firing a rifle at a horsebox as the luxury home and its outbuildings burned in the early hours of August 26.

John Ellery, mid and north Shropshire coroner, will hold the inquest at Shrewsbury Magistrates' Court.

Around 100 mourners poured into St John's Church in Maesbrook to pay their final respects to Mrs Foster and Kirstie in December.

Hours later, scores of mourners filed into the same church for the funeral of Mr Foster.
