The reality TV star underwent a lengthy operation on Friday to remove a golf ball-sized tumour from her bowel at the Royal Marsden Hospital in central London.
Earlier this week the 27-year-old, originally from Bermondsey, south London, learned her cervical cancer had spread to her bowel, liver and groin.
Mr Clifford said media appearances, including a reality show on Living TV following her life, helped Ms Goody cope with her illness.
He said: "It helps her to think about something else instead of am I going to live and how long am I going to live?
"Is she doing it for money? Yes she's doing it for the money because she has to look after her two boys.
"She is keeping herself busy which helps her and helps her spirits but it is totally, totally up to her. Living TV have said 'If you want us to stop we will' but she said 'that's fine'."
Mr Clifford added Jade hoped the press coverage would help warn other people of the importance of early diagnosis of cancer.
Ms Goody was first diagnosed with the illness last August and has undergone extensive chemotherapy treatment which has left her without hair.
In the next few weeks she is expected to be given a new drug in an attempt to combat her spreading illness. Doctors have prescribed a two-month course of Topotecan, which is still being tested in the UK and is used by sufferers who do not respond to more conventional treatments.
