Jimmy suspect 'may be in Cyprus'

Scotland Yard has refused to comment on suggestions that an arrest warrant has been issued for a young Turkish man over the fatal slashing of the popular church-going student.
But if the suspect - believed to be 19 - has left the country, it could prove difficult for him to be questioned. Northern Cyprus currently has no extradition treaty with the UK.
Jimmy died on Saturday morning, the day after his birthday, following a row as he went to buy his first lottery ticket.
Three days on, police are continuing to hunt his attacker, who launched an "unprovoked and vicious" assault after unsuccessfully challenging the schoolboy to a fight at the Three Cooks bakery in Lee, south-east London.
Reports have suggested that detectives had issued all the country's police forces with an arrest warrant for a young Turkish man. But a spokesman for Scotland Yard refused to discuss the issue.
A spokesman cited "ongoing operational reasons" for not discussing the suspect in the case.
Det Chief Insp Cliff Lyons, who is leading the investigation, said officers had gathered CCTV footage and "significant" forensic samples. The detective praised Jimmy's "great maturity" in not responding to the suspect's "antagonistic actions" outside the bakery. He also stressed that the murder was not race or gang related.
Jimmy's family and classmates remembered him on Monday on what would have been his last full day at school.
The teenager should have attended a celebratory leavers' Mass at St Thomas More Catholic Comprehensive in Eltham, south-east London, before starting revision for his GCSE exams. Instead the occasion became a tearful service of remembrance for his grieving family and more than 100 of his fellow Year 11 pupils.
